Employer advantages

Wikibus is a gentle mobility solution falling into the Organised Public Transport (OPT) category. OPT consists of one or several companies organising full or partial (bus/train station near the workplace) transportation of their employees to and from work. This service by various bus types (belonging to the employer or not) may be free or may require a fee (for non-lucrative purposes).

Wikibus’s Organised Public Transport offers many financial advantages:

  • Scale economies are achieved through the pooling of several employers.
  • The management and supervision of the service are the responsibility of the employer, which allows for more flexibility.
  • Operational and logistical organisation is ensured by Wikibus, which frees the employer from engaging large sums in rolling stock.

Moreover, the Tax and Revenue Code (Code des Impôts sur les Revenus, CIR) has established a specific and advantageous fiscal plan for companies that organize OPT for their employees. This provides for an increased deductibility of 120% of fees engaged in the organization of transportation, or of the portion of fees engaged by each employer in the event of a group of companies. If the service is not free, the deduction will apply to the fee paid by the employee (article 64terCIR92).

It is easy to understand how Wikibus encourages the reduction of one’s carbon footprint. Each Wikibus represents 30 fewer cars on the road, and nearly 6 times less CO2 emissions. You don’t need to be an environmentalist to participate, even a little bit, in this common effort.

Every three years, the Mobility and Transportation FPS leads an investigation into public and private companies in Belgium, with more than 100 people on the case. This investigation primarily concerns employee trips to and from the workplace.

This diagnostic process has two goals:

  • Bringing the discussion of home-work travel to the fore of private companies and public services, in order to encourage the establishment of measures leading to more sustainable and efficient mobility.
  • Gathering data about home-work travel in Belgium, as well as about mobility policies that companies have established. This data is then used by a number of mobility actors: public authorities, consultants, universities, etc.

Offering Wikibus to your employees is a major step towards clearing up our roads.

We often underestimate the number of parking spots needed. Nothing is more irritating than having to get to work early just to find a place to park. And that’s not even mentioning the cost, which is often through the roof!

What if a creative approach to mobility made you more attractive to the market’s newest talents? Especially to younger recruits that you’d like to attract and who, in contrast with their elders, do not worship the automobile.

By choosing Wikibus, you are positioning yourself as a company that cares about the well-being of your collaborators.

Since seats are not nominative, they are easily interchangeable. With the Wikibus app, your collaborators can select the days that work best for them. They can also confirm their seat or free it up for another colleague.

You can reserve a Wikibus seat at any time of the year, and give it to Jack on Monday, to Anne on Tuesday and Wednesday, and to André on Thursday and Friday! And if they’re on holiday or ill, their colleagues can also benefit from it.

You can even decide to sign up for a 6-month subscription if you’re a new hire!

The total cost is inevitably going to be less than a company car since you only pay for the Wikibus on workdays. And if a user is on holiday or ill, a colleague can take their seat.

If you add the cost of a company vehicle (leasing, maintenance, fuel, accidents, parking…and even stress) to the number of days that this vehicle is really being used for work purposes, you’ll see that Wikibus is by far the more economic and flexible option.

Wikibus is exclusively reserved for companies with whom we have signed an agreement to organise their employees’ public transportation.

Each company may then decide on the subscription’s duration. Plans go anywhere from single days to yearly plans, as well as weekly, monthly and trimestral plans. For example, you can subscribe to a 3-seat plan for the year and add a trimester plan for a pregnant employee that doesn’t want to drive before giving birth. Or add a six-month plan for the new intern. You can even subscribe to shorter plans in case of bad weather or if someone’s had their license revoked…

An employee’s use of company-organised OPT is not a taxable benefit; indeed, it is considered as a non-taxable social benefit (exempted social benefit – article 38, § 1er, 11° CIR92).

What if we didn’t all have to be environmentalists to help out the planet? Indeed, you don’t have to be an eco-warrior to participate, even a little bit, in the global green effort. 30 fewer cars on the road for every Wikibus means 6 times less CO2 emissions. And, if you want, you could even reserve a Wikibike for that last little stretch to work.
Fatigue, stress, distractions…these are all factors that increase the risk of car accidents. What if you went to work in business class with a chauffeur?

What if all the energy you spend getting to work was dedicated to your professional life? We have never heard as much about mobility as we have in the past few years. So why are we still stuck in traffic jams? What kind of reliable and intelligent solutions to this problem exist? What if our well-being at work starts even before we get there? How would your professional life benefit from less stress on the road?

We’ve designed everything to help you relax, sleep, listen to your favourite music…or finish rereading last meeting’s report. Everything that you can’t do in your car and that you struggle with in a loaded train!

You decide the length of your subscription along with your employer: daily, monthly, trimestral, 6-month, or annual. You can also determine the days that you would like to reserve; Wikibus is on the road every working day of the week. Why not reserve a bicycle to ride from the bus stop right to work, or get a ride-share to our departure stop?

Let yourself breeze through the kilometres, all while comfortably sitting in your luxurious leather seat. You’ll have all the space you need to stretch out your legs. Just contemplate all those traffic jams you’re avoiding and relax.

Lines

How does it work?

Signing up

Companies sign up for one or several Wikibus lines. They then ask their employees to reserve their seats according to their work hours, all through an online application.

Reservations

Employees reserve their seats via a web application, where they can choose the days or periods they wish to travel. Employees can visualise remaining seats in real time and they can modify or cede their seat to a colleague whenever they want. They can also reserve wikixtras, such as bicycles or an on-board breakfast.

Optimisation

Every month, companies receive a detailed report on their employees’ actual use of Wikibus. By sharing the Wikibus, companies optimize their mobility costs, reduce traffic congestion, diminish their carbon footprint and contribute to the well-being of their employees.
